Eligibility Policies and Requirements

Unpaid Interns and Non-Affiliated Internships

Internships at Rutgers Health Sciences are solely learning opportunities, which may be:

  • Full or part-time during summer months for up to twelve weeks
  • Part-time during the year, not to exceed an academic year

Internships are available for undergraduate, graduate level, technical/vocational, and recently graduated students (within 2 years of graduation).

Requests for internships in exchange for school credit will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Eligibility will be based upon the student’s educational institution’s requirements.

Individuals selected for further consideration are required to complete and submit the following documents:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Recent transcript
  • Intern Information Sheet
  • Internship Program Learning Agreement
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Disclosure and Authorization Form
  • Intern Statement of Understanding
  • Confidentiality Agreement

Interns must also complete a medical screening prior to placement in a position.  

Federal Work Study Program

This is a federally funded program that places eligible students in part-time jobs with a paid wage for hours worked. Funding may be available for undergraduate and graduate level students. For more information about eligibility requirements, please visit:

Institution Funded Positions

We have limited funding available for temporary, part-time and per diem positions. Please specify your area of interest in your cover letter from the STEP positions section.
