Clinical Cancer Research

The role of the NJMS Clinical Research Office is to manage the clinical research infrastructure associated with the cancer clinical trials offered to the patients in our Cancer Research. The Office is staffed by the Executive Director, who is also a research nurse, a regulatory officer, two patient navigators, three clinical research coordinators, a research nurse, and an administrative assistant. Robert Wieder, M.D., Ph.D. serves as the Clinical Director of the Office. The primary goal of the Clinical Research Office is to provide state of the art clinical trials to the patient community served by the Cancer Research. They are members in good standing of the ECOG/ACRIN, ALLIANCE and NRG. We have number of active cooperative group trials and are activating a several more for accruing patients with the most common malignancies and stages of tumors treated on our campus. The Clinical Research Office is also a participant and partner in translational research programs and investigator-initiated clinical trials and has a number of pharmaceutical trials that are being activated. They assist in Institutional Review board (IRB) application preparation and submission and tissue procurement for faculty at the NJMS.
