Postdoctoral position (December 5, 2017)

One entry level Post-doctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Gopal Babu to study the role of sarcolipin, a regulator of SR Ca2+ ATPase in muscular dystrophy and cardiomyopathy.

Our lab uses biochemical, physiological and molecular biological approaches to study the role of sarcolipin in abnormal calcium handling in skeletal and cardiac muscles. Current research interest of the lab includes (1) Identifying sarcolipin as a better therapeutic target to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy and (2) Identifying the molecular mechanism that causes sarcolipin upregulation in dystrophic muscles.

Please refer to the recent publication listed below for more details.

Candidate should have a PhD degree with 0-1-year postdoctoral research experience. Experience in muscle physiology and/or molecular and cell biology methods and handling transgenic and knockout mice (ear clipping, and performing tail biopsy) are needed. Independent thinking and working in a team environment is encouraged. Candidates are expected to have strong written and communication skills. Interested candidate please send a CV along with statement of research interests, career goals and contact information for three references to Dr. Gopal J Babu (babugo@njms.rutgers.edu), Associate Professor, Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine.
