Andrew R. Berman, M.D.
Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine
Dr. Berman is the Division Director for the combined Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine/Allergic and Immunologic Diseases. Prior to his arrival at UMDNJ in 2011, he served as the fellowship training program director at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was a faculty member for over 15 years. Dr. Berman received his medical degree from S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook School of Medicine, and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, where he was also Medical Chief Resident. He completed fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Berman’s research interests include disparities in the care of patients with lung cancer, palliative care in lung disease, and medical education. Dr. Berman sees patients in his office with a wide array of lung diseases, and has a special interest in the management of patients with sarcoidosis and advanced lung diseases. Dr. Berman is also active in global health and periodically returns to Project Medishare’s Bernard Mevs Hospital in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He currently serves on the American College of Chest Physician’s Education Committee and Disaster Medicine Steering Committee.
