The Division of General Academic Pediatrics provides excellence in teaching and inpatient care of children who are admitted to University Hospital. The Division oversees the teaching of residents, students, fellows, and other allied health professionals ensuring top quality care and coordination of services. The Division also works with nursing, hospital personnel in utilization review and quality assurance. The teaching within the division seeks to identify, diagnose, manage and treat common pediatric disorders ensuring efficient and comprehensive inpatient care. The Division also provides assistance to parents of terminally ill children who must make difficult decisions about their child's quality of life. Within the managed care environment, community physicians are assured that their hospitalized patients are receivning the highest quality of care in an academic setting.
The Student and Residency teaching programs provied a whole range of primary and specialty care experiences for 71 residents and fellows who rotate through University Hospital, and Hackensack University Medical Center.
