The NJ Public Health Training Center (NJPHTC) was established in September 2010 with funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The NJPHTC is part of the network of Public Health Training Centers across the U.S. and is housed at the Rutgers- School of Public Health in Piscataway. DPMCH is a partner in the NJPHTC.
The NJPHTC also works very closely with the various public health organizations across the state, to further develop relevant training opportunities. These organizations include: NJ Health Officers Association, NJ Society of Public Health Educators, NJ Association of Public Health Nurse Administrators, NJ Environmental Health Association and NJ Society of Public Health Epidemiologists.
Newark faculty participate in all Core Training Center Goals. www.njphtc.org Activities overseen by Newark faculty include:
- Public Health and Preventive Medicine Grand Rounds
- Lectures and workshops for public health professionals in NJ
- Medical Student 2-week rotation in local health departments
- Available placements for student interns in local and state health departments; and opportunities for MPH field work in public health.
