Dr. Richard Pozen & Mrs. Ann Silver Pozen Community Service Scholarship Award
Through the generosity of Dr. Richard Pozen, Class of 1974, and Ann Silver Pozen, an endowment has been established that will enable New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) to support and encourage medical student participation in community service learning projects. The goal of this program is to stimulate a student's on-going interest, develop learning strategies that integrate meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen community service initiatives.
Overview and Requirements
- Students are invited
to apply for this exciting community service opportunity.
- Projects can be student
or faculty initiated.
- Service can be completed
within our local community, regionally, nationally or internationally.
- Project duration can
vary based upon the type of community service initiative.
- Summer scholars are expected
to spend a minimum of 6 weeks carrying out the initiatives of their projects.
- Applicants are expected
to submit a written proposal using the Pozen Community Scholars Form. Requests
for an application can be made to the Office for Diversity and Community Engagement at MSB B624
- Applications will be
accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis by the advisory committee.
- Notification of selection
will be made within 3 weeks of submission of the project proposal.
- Students are eligible
to receive an award in the form of a stipend or a mini-grant.
completion of the project, the scholar will be expected to submit a written
summary and a poster for our Annual Pozen poster day session..
