Students are introduced to a problem-based
learning model of course material in:
Organic Chemistry
Physics with Calculus
Anatomy
Physiology
Communications/Public Speaking
Verbal skills will be used in discussing
relevant medical literature and new events. This will allow you to learn more
about topics such as ethics and cross-cultural communication in medicine/dentistry.
Students will also develop their writing skills through assignments, which include
preparing a personal statement and oral presentations.
Academic Skills and Strategies
This course is dedicated to improving
students opportunity for academic success through the development of listening,
note taking, study skills, time management, lecture and lab preparation techniques
and test-taking strategies. The skills obtained will be reinforced throughout
the curriculum.
Career Planning and Assessment
All students will participate in seminars/lectures which will cover the following topics:
Individualized academic counseling
Educational/Psychological Assessment
Getting into Medical/Dental School
Financial Planning Workshop
Medical/Dental Student Panel
