This course will provide students with an understanding of: (1) general physiological principles (i.e. body organization, cellular communication, neural and hormonal control, function of individual cells), (2) regulation and function of major body systems (cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal and endocrine) and (3) the integration of these systems in the maintenance of homeostasis of the human body. The concepts presented in this course are essential to biomedical research and to the diagnosis of human disease.
