QA/QI RESEARCH AND MEDICAL DISPARITIES IN CLINICAL SETTINGS - GSND 5008Q

The purpose of this course is to learn about the principles and processes of quality assurance and quality improvement (QA/QI) research and the influences of medical biases and disparities in clinical practice. This course offers a combination of didactic and clinical experiences all offered virtually. Students will learn the principle of Patient Centered Medical Home, epidemiology, research methodology, telemedicine and statistical analysis. Students will work in teams. The team will investigate a topic according to evidence-based (EBM) guidelines to monitor quality of care. Students will develop QA/QI chart review forms following EBM guidelines. Each student will perform mock chart reviews, data entry, and descriptive statistical analysis. Students will interpret results and prepare a poster presentation. Students will learn to use the QA/QI reviews to evaluate adherence to the selected guidelines. Please click here to download the Spring 2021 course schedule.
