Doctoral Students

Tuition for Full Time Doctoral (NJ Residents) $ 3,733.50 per semester*
Tuition for Full Time Doctoral (Non-Residents) $ 5,408.50 per semester*
*Full time Ph.D. students receiving a stipend receive tuition remission. The charge will appear on your term bill, however, you are not responsible for payment of tuition
Tuition for Part Time Doctoral (NJ Residents) $ 602.00 per credit
Tuition for Part Time Doctoral (Non NJ Residents) $ 753.00 per credit

General Service Fee (full time students only) $ 175.00 per semester*
*Full-Time students receiving a stipend, are not responsible for the payment of the general service fee. The fee will be paid by GSBS or your department depending on your year in the program.

Thesis Phase Fee (Beginning with Year 5) $ 200.00 per semester**
**The thesis phase fee is charged every semester beginning with the student’s G-5 year and must be paid by the mentor.

Health Insurance (full time students only) $1,473.00 per year
For Full-Time students receiving a stipend, your account will automatically be billed and you will be enrolled in the Aetna health insurance plan unless you submit an on-line waiver. This fee will be paid by GSBS, your department, or your mentor, depending on your year in the program.

Graduate Student Association Fee (paid by student) $ 20.00 per semester

International Service Fee (paid by student) $ 90.00 per semester

Graduation Fee (to be charged when degree requirements are complete) $ 80.00 one-time fee
* Membership in the GSA is mandatory for all matriculated students

GSBS Late Registration Fee $ 50.00

Rutgers Late Fee $ 50.00 per month

Parking Fee (general) $ 160.50 per academic year

Tuition Installment Payment Plan (available to matriculated students only)
Students may arrange with the Cashier’s Office to follow an installment payment plan. Upon request, the Graduate School will prepare a Tuition Referral Form for you which will outline all of your tuition and fees for the semester for you to take to the cashier’s office. For promissory forms and to make arrangements, please go to the Cashier’s office located in the Medical Science Building at MSB B-644 Tel: (973) 972-4379. The fee for the installment plan is $20.00.

Students wishing to sign up for the installment plan do not have to do so prior to registration, but must do so prior to the billing due date.

• Payment of all fees plus one-half of the tuition is due before or on the billing due date.
• Payment of one-quarter of the tuition is due 30 days after the due date and the final quarter is due 60 days after the billing due date.

Any student who elects to use the payment plan and finds it impossible to meet this obligation must contact the Financial Aid Office immediately to make alternative arrangements. No degree will be awarded to any student until all financial obligations to the University have been satisfied. Students adding a course that begins mid-semester must pay the full tuition prior to the start of the course.
