High Schoolers Learn What it Takes to Become a Physician

A group of high school students from Puerto Rico visited NJMS on March 28 to learn ways they can prepare themselves for a medical school education. The students were in New Jersey to participate in a basketball tournament during their spring break. At NJMS they heard a presentation about medical education from Brenda Natal, MD'07, MPH, RN, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Director of the Simulation Program, Office of Education. NJMS students also volunteered as tour guides to escort the athletes and their parents through the University Hospital Emergency Department, the echocardiogram lab, the NJMS Clinical Skills Center and the anatomy lab. The Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce Foundation of Essex County sponsored the group's visit, which was hosted by the NJMS Office of the Vice Dean.
