Overview
Dr. Ranie Koshy is board certified in Transfusion Medicine and Anatomic & Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. Dr. Koshy has over 34 years of experience in Transfusion Medicine and Clinical Pathology; she is the Medical Director of the Transfusion Medicine Services at University Hospital, Newark, NJ in the past 17 years. Her prior experience included Medical Directorship at the Donor services of the American Red Cross, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Blood Center of New Jersey and the New Jersey Blood Services, a division of New York blood center which included managing and overseeing a highly regulated blood collection and processing operation. In addition, for 3 years, Dr. Koshy served as the President and CEO of the Blood Center of NJ in East Orange, NJ.
Dr. Koshy has expertise in acute care transfusion support of high risk patients in Trauma, Sickle Cell Disease, Therapeutic Apheresis, Liver Transplant, neonates, high risk Obstetrics and Gynecology and Hematology/Oncology patients including providing transfusion support to those patients with multiple antibodies and difficult compatibility issues in Transfusion
