Application Process and Instructions

Thank you for your interest in our programs at the SGS NEWARK - RBHS.

  • MASTER’S PROGRAM

    Admission timeline

    The Master's program offers admission on a rolling basis. The program offers both Spring and Fall admissions.

    Spring 2024

    The application deadline for Spring 2024 has been extended to December 15, 2023.
    Classes start in the first week of January. Click here for the Spring 2023 class schedule. A majority of classes will follow a similar timeline in Spring 2024.

    Fall 2024

    Deadline to apply: July 15, 2024.
    Graduate school classes start in the first or second week of September. Click here for the Fall 2023 class schedule. A majority of classes will follow a similar timeline in Fall 2024.

    Application fee

    The application fee for the Spring 2024 and Fall 2024 term has been waived.

    How to apply

    All prospective students apply through the Rutgers University-wide Graduate and Professional Application Portal. The online application has the following 11 sections: Application selection, Personal information, Background information, Program of study, Program details, Education history, Test scores, Financial information, Additional information, Personal information, Recommendation, and Submit application. Below is the key and a video guide to find our program under the Program of Study section in the online application portal.

    Degree Type: Master's (e.g. MA, MS, EdM, MFA)

    Area of Study: Biomedical Sciences

    Location/Instructional Method: Newark - RBHS

    Program Selection: Select one: Biomedical Sciences (MBS) Newark - RBHS or Biomedical Sciences (MS) Newark - RBHS

    Admission timeline

    The Multidisciplinary PhD Program will be holding a Recruitment/Interview Day on January 26, 2024 (in-person) and February 8, 2024 (virtual). In order to be considered for this invitation only Recruitment/Interview Day, applications should be received by January 05, 2024.

    Dear prospective students, you can apply to our Multidisciplinary PhD program through the Rutgers University-wide Graduate and Professional Application Portal.

    Here are the steps to apply to our program: 

    1) Review the admission requirements

    2) The online application has the following sections:

    Application selection, Personal information, Background information, Program of study*, Program details**, Education history, Financial information***, Additional information, Personal information, Recommendation, and Submit application.

    *In the online application, under the section, Program of Study, to find our program, please make the following selections:

    Applicant type: Degree

    Degree type: Doctoral

    Area of study: Biomedical Science

    Location/Instruction method: Newark - RBHS

    Program Selection - The track you select will be considered your first preference.  A sample screen shot is available here.

      **Under the section, Program Details, you will have the option to select a Concentration/Track/Specialization. The track you select in this section will be considered your second preference. A sample screen shot is available here

      *** Under the section, Financial information, although you are asked "Do you wish to be considered for financial assistance?", please know, all Ph.D. students in our program receive financial support. More information is available here

    3) Visit the application portal and Create a New Community ID. 

    4) Complete your application or save an incomplete application at any time and finish later.
