World Hepatitis Day, 2013

July 28th, known to many health care takers as World Hepatitis Day, brought new education to NJMS. Dr. Pyrsopoulos, division director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, lectured on the surprisingly abundant presence of Hepatitis variations around the world, and specifically New Jersey. Though vastly under publicized, "Hepatitis is the leading cause of Liver Cancer and the most common reason for liver transplantation. An estimated 4.4 million Americans are living with Chronic Hepatitis; most do not know they are infected". Bringing new and relevant information, Dr. Pyrsopoulos enlightened listeners to pass this information on to the public.
