Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program

Program Overview The GSBS – Newark offers an interdisciplinary program of study leading to the Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences.  This program allows students to work with any approved faculty member on the Newark campus.  Furthermore, students are encouraged to perform laboratory rotations with faculty from different departments in order to obtain an interdisciplinary approach.  Coursework, other than the Core curriculum required of all graduate students, is primarily composed of electives chosen by the student in consultation with an advisor.

Mission Statement
The goal of this program is to train research scientists in the latest theory and technology used in modern molecular, cellular and biomedical research and to apply this knowledge to solving biomedical research problems. To achieve this goal, a multi-disciplinary program has been developed that offers a flexible curriculum individually tailored to students needs. The student can select thesis research work from any participating faculty from within the various departments of NJMS (.
