Welcome
from the President
Steven A. Dumbroff, MD'89
It is an honor to be one of many voices representing the Alumni Association at New Jersey Medical School, whose primary goal is to support the medical students.
I began my affiliation with NJMS in 1985. After graduation in 1989, I studied medicine for one year at Morristown Memorial Hospital. This was followed by a residency in anesthesia at NYU. Then, I returned to New Jersey and entered private practice in Elizabeth, and have since moved to a practice in Rahway. Currently, our group, associated with Envision Healthcare, practices at RWJBarnabas at Rahway, a surgical center in Linden, a pain management practice in Edison and a Urological Center in West Orange.
Despite the rigors of private practice, I have had the pleasure of representing the practice of anesthesia for many years at Career Night, an annual program for second-year medical students that is sponsored by the Alumni Association. About ten years ago, I made the jump to become more involved in the Association. Now, as President, I am excited to lead the members of the Board of Trustees, whose commitment to our medical students is realized through the granting of scholarships (more than $200,000 awarded yearly) and the sponsorship of numerous student programs.
In addition to supporting our medical students, the Association is actively involved in alumni engagement. If you have any suggestions of how to increase alumni participation or ideas on how to help with our mission, we would appreciate hearing from you. Please feel free to contact us by calling the Alumni Office staff at (973) 972-6864 or email: njmsalum@njms.rutgers.edu.
