Global Health


The department is actively engaged with global health, with a focus on education and human capacity development. While several travel-related opportunities are currently on hold with the pandemic the department has been a leaders in distance learning and collaboration, such that some of its efforts continue. Department faculty have received grants related to global health education for students and residents, as well as related to distance learning in the international context.

Faculty & Projects

Aislinn Black, MD

  • Dr. Black completed her fellowship in International Emergency Medicine at George Washington University and is actively involved in projects related to teaching local personnel in the Honduras and Nicaragua.

Novneet Sahu, MD

  • Dr. Sahu has collaborated on projects in India, and as part of the Army Reserves has been engaged in educational and clinical care initiatives throughout East Africa, including Djibouti and Somalia.

Harsh Sule, MD, MPP

  • Dr. Sule is Associate Director for the NJMS Office of Global Health and Co-Director of the medical school's Global Health Distinction Program. He is also Core Faculty for the Rutgers Global Health Institute. His international work currently includes educational initiatives in Ghana, with prior work spanning Azerbaijan, China and Sierra Leone. He previously served as Medical Director for an EM-related project and then Country Director for International Medical Corps in Azerbaijan.
