It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship page at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School!
The Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship program is a three year program, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The program provides training to two fellows (1-1-0) who rotate through University Hospital in Newark, NJ and Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ.
As a large inner city teaching hospital, University Hospital has a diverse and high acuity patient population. University Hospital is the main teaching hospital for Rutgers New Jersey Medical School for medical students, residents and fellows. The maternal fetal medicine-neonatology unit is a state approved level three regional perinatal center, providing the highest quality antenatal diagnostic and therapeutic services and receives both maternal and newborn transfers. Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center is a tertiary care center with 6000 deliveries per year. The fellows participate in outpatient high risk obstetric care with New Jersey Perinatal Associates, performing fetal diagnostic procedures, consultations and ultrasounds during their two rotations there.
Fellows have opportunities to participate in basic science, translational and clinical research at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Interdepartmental collaboration is supported. Fellows also participate in clinical research projects under the supervision of the program director and other division faculty. Fellows have access to established NJMS core facilities, the Academic Computing Center and statistical support services. Research design and implementation are taught to the fellows during regular meetings with the research mentor and the program director.
Thank you for your interest in our program. I look forward to meeting you and feel free to reach out to us if you have any additional questions.
