Selecting a Project

  • How do I get involved with a CESL project?

See the CESL Directory of approved service learning projects, which includes a description of the service activities, objectives, and contact information for student leaders and faculty advisors. New projects will be added to this directory on a rolling basis. As you read through the directory, we recommend you mark down several projects that sound most interesting to you. Try to attend an interest meeting for these groups or contact the student leaders to learn more about getting involved.

  • What if I am interested in many different service projects?

Please feel free to get involved with as many projects as you would like (within reason). Many NJMS students have a wide range of interests related to community outreach, and we want you to cultivate those during your time here. Keep in mind that you must select 1 or 2 CESL-approved projects to fulfill your mandatory CESL requirement. If you think you may want to get involved with several projects, we recommend you attempt to try out one at a time so that you give yourself an opportunity to reflect on your expectations beforehand and determine if you enjoy the activities enough to select it as your main CESL service project.
