Summer Student Research Program
The Summer Student Research Program provides an eight-week research experience for the New Jersey 1st and 2nd year Medical Students, as well as undergraduate students enrolled in our combined BS/MD seven-year program. Students are rquired to participate in research activites in a basic science or clinical laboratory. On many occasions this has been the students first research experience. Participation allows students and volunteers to develop a close working relationship with their mentor.
After completing eight-weeks of research in the respective laboratories, students present their research projects at the Summer Student Research Poster Symposium held in early August. At the symposium students are interviewed and required to explain the results displayed in their poster presentation.
NOTE: The eight-week program begins the first week of June and concludes on or before July 31st. The SSRP Poster Symposium is held the last week of July (date tbd).
Projects may include a small stipend and other projects are available thru work-study or volunteerism. Every year by the end of February, new projects will be poster for the upcoming prospective Summer Program Participants. Please use this link to access current projects: SSRP Student Information

- Students must be in good academic standing to participate.
- Projects are to be carried out during an eight-week period in which the students must not have any other academic activities. Students cannot participate in this program while performing another full-time program sponsored by the New Jersey Medical School.
Participation in the Summer Student Research Program is often the student's first research experience. It provides an opportunity for each student to evaluate the possibility of an academic career in medicine as well as appreciate the value and importance of biomedical research to tomorrow's physicians.
Students who are not enrolled in the New Jersey Medical School may review the
available projects and complete the Internship Program Application Packet. Please use this link to access the Internship Program Application Packet: Internship Application Program Packet
