7 Year Baccalaureate/MD Program for College Sophomores

This program is designed for academically excellent sophomore premedical students at Rutgers University and is meant to encourage the integration of the basic medical science courses and advanced natural science courses in order to prepare students for the clinical portion of their professional education. Selected students are able to obtain the Baccalaureate/MD degree in seven years. Completion in eight years is possible on a case by case basis.

Accepted students must complete all Rutgers core requirements by the end of their junior year. In their fourth year, students will take the complete first year curriculum at New Jersey Medical School (NJMS).
Benefits of the program:

  • A conditional early acceptance to NJMS
  • Tuition responsibility: 3 years of undergraduate and 4 years of medical school
  • College credit is awarded for select medical school courses that may be used toward completion of undergraduate degree requirements

To apply, students must have completed the following criteria:

  • Completed 4 semesters of college (a minimum of 60 credits)
  • Minimum cumulative and science GPA of 3.5
  • Completed at least two semesters of: General Biology w/ lab, General Chemistry w/ lab, Organic Chemistry (lab may be taken in the junior year), one semester each of Math and English
  • Accepted students must complete the MCAT by the end of May of junior year and a competitive score will be required (at the mean of the last matriculated class)
  • The application process is initiated through Rutgers University.
