MSB Renovation

The MSB Renovation is tentatively scheduled to start sometime this summer of ’26. The first part of the renovation will include our Education, lobby, and HVAC areas. This Education focus will help support our current medical schools' merger and LCME accreditation processes.

The first phase of this Education focus will be on renovating B600 and E600. Project managers from IP&O, along with members of the NJMS Education, Facilities, IT, and Research groups, are currently meeting with users and departments in these areas to work out relocation plans, as those areas will have to be vacated by 7/1/26. This will include pre-phase renovation and moves to accommodate these moves as well as the loss of educational, office, research lab, and other space in these areas.

Renovation of these spaces will take about a year, and then move on to the next 2 areas, C600 and B500. Afterwards, the focus will be on C500 and the B/C northwest (nw) wing (where the large lecture halls are located).

While these areas are being addressed, we will also be upgrading all the HVAC systems and equipment on D level, as well as on small pockets of A and J levels.

Overall, the target completion for the above (including the B & C lobby) is 7/1/29.

Once this is done, the plan is to continue to renovate the upper-level Research, etc. space, E thru I levels.

Investing in the Future of Academic Medicine at NJMS

The Medical Sciences Building (MSB) Renovation represents a significant investment in the academic mission of New Jersey Medical School. Designed to modernize learning environments and strengthen student experience, the renovation enhances instructional spaces, collaborative areas, and shared community hubs throughout the building.

Through thoughtful interior design and updated infrastructure, the project supports innovative teaching methods, interdisciplinary learning, and a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff.
