The Mini-Med School at NJMS is a 6-week educational program designed to inspire high school juniors and seniors in the greater Newark area to explore careers in medicine and the health sciences. Through weekly didactic sessions led by first and second-year medical students, followed by lectures from faculty experts, students gain exposure to a range of medical topics including cardiology, neurology, infectious diseases, mental health, health equity, and more. The program also features a hands-on health day, offering students practical experience in clinical skills. Participants who attend all six academic sessions are honored on Graduation Day (week six) with a Certificate of Achievement. The event includes remarks from the Executive Vice Dean of NJMS, as well as a Q&A panel with current medical students, providing valuable insight into the medical school journey.
