Najeebah Walden
Najeebah is the first point of contact for introduction to the services and resources available through the Rutgers Center for Transgender Health. Najeebah provides a wealth of information to help patients coordinate their visit with Center experts. She also handles insurance authorization for patients.


Internal Medicine

Michelle Dalla Piazza, MD
Dr. Dalla-Piazza is an assistant professor in Department of Medicine at NJMS. Her areas of expertise include internal medicine and infectious disease. Dr. Dalla-Piazza has a strong clinical interest in both HIV primary care and viral hepatitis. Her research activities are concentrated on HIV treatment and prevention through the AIDS Clinical Trials Unit. With the Rutgers Center for Transgender Health, Dr. Dalla-Piazza will provide expertise in hormone therapy and HIV prevention and treatment.

Reproductive Endocrinology

Michael Cho, MD, associate professor
Sara Morelli, MD, assistant professor
Drs. Cho and Morelli will work with colleagues within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health to assist patients with reproductive endocrinology services such as hormone therapy and egg preservation.


Petros Levounis, MD, Chair, Department of Psychiatry 
Dr. Levounis, Professor and Chair, Department of Psychiatry, will assist patients with psychiatric resources. Along with colleagues, Dr. Levounis will provide psychiatric evaluation and support for gender dysphoria. Faculty experts will also assist with insurance clearance evaluation for gender confirmation surgery.



Mark Einstein, MD, Chair, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, & Women’s Health
Dr. Einstein and colleagues within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health provide a  full range of gynecologic services including hysterectomy, vaginectomy and ongoing post-operation care. Faculty physicians also serve as members of the surgical team for genital reassignment surgery for "bottom surgery."

Plastic Surgery

Jonathan Keith, MD, FACS, assistant professor
Dr. Keith is board certified and fellowship trained in microsurgery and gender confirmation. Dr. Keith provides a full range of surgical procedures for female to male and male to female including:

Top Surgery
-Breast Augmentation
-Chest Masculinization (reduction and mastectomy)

Bottom Surgery
-Phalloplasty and Metoidioplasty

Additionally, Dr. Keith performs facial surgery for gender confirmation including facial feminization and tracheal shave (may not be covered by insurance).


Nitin Patel, MD, assistant professor
Dr. Patel is part of the team that performs genital reassignment surgery. He also performs urethral lengthening procedures and manages potential complications of stricture or fistula. Dr. Patel also performs testicular implants and penile implants for female to male transitions.


Rachel Kaye, MD, assistant professor
Working within the Department of Otolaryngology, Dr. Kaye offers endolaryngeal pitch adjustment surgery for gender confirming voice change.
