Tamotsu Imaeda MD Memorial Visiting Professors

 

Tamotsu Imaeda, MD, PhD, was a distinguished and gracious professor of dermatology and microbiology at the New Jersey Medical School. This alumnus of Kyoto University School of Medicine served as a key faculty member both for the medical school and for its Dermatology residency training program. His main interest in Dermatology was the microbiologic study of leprosy.

In 1959, he left Japan for Venezuela, where he performed pivotal leprosy research prior to its continuation for the final 20 years of his career at NJMS. The Venezualian ambassador came to NJMS a few weeks prior to Dr. Imaeda's death to award him the Order Andres Bello, Venezuela’s highest civilian honor.
