Academic Activity

Residents have the opportunity to participate in national and international conferences in dermatology, including, but not limited to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) annual meeting. In the recent past, our residents have presented internationally at the World Congress in Buenos Aires, at a meeting in Paris, and at the 6th South Asian Regional Conference in Dermatology in Nepal. They have also attended events in Florida, Puerto Rico, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. Additionally, our program also regularly participates in weekly and/or monthly dermatology conferences in the local, greater New York area.

The curriculum utilizes a number of common dermatology textbooks and slide sets; it also hinges upon current literature, including scholarly writing produced by our own group of teaching staff, residents, and students. Residents participate in a weekly journal club activity with Dr. Schwartz, focusing on clinical and evidence-based dermatology from commonly-cited periodicals, including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Archives in Dermatology, the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, the International Journal of Dermatology, and others. Additionally, our residents are expected contribute to the literature with scholarly writing of their own. Weekly dermatopathology case sign-outs, quiz sessions, and didactics take place with Drs. Lambert and Rothenberg.
