Sunil Patel, MD
Division Chief, Hospital Medicine
Associate Professor of Medicine
Dr. Patel joined the Department of Medicine as an Academic Hospitalist at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in July 2007, while it was still part of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). He finished his Internal Medicine Residency at the same institution from 2004 to 2007. Prior to that, he completed his medical degree at the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Trinidad and Tobago. He joined as a junior hospitalist in a group of 3 hospitalists which has now expanded to 20 hospitalists. He now serves as the Division Director of Hospital Medicine, focusing on patient care, quality improvement and patient safety as well as Hospitalist well-being. In addition to being Board Certified in Internal Medicine, he is also Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Patel also serves as the Director of Inpatient Medicine playing a key role with hospital administration and scheduling Medicine Attendings to the Teaching teams for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. He is also a Senior Fellow in the Society of Hospital Medicine.
Dorothy Castro, MD
Associate Professor of Medicine
Dr. Castro completed her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Spanish Literature at Cornell University. She received an MPH from Boston University School of Public Health. She earned her medical degree from New Jersey Medical School and stayed to complete a Residency in Internal Medicine. Dr. Castro works as an academic hospitalist and is part of the teaching faculty for residents in Internal Medicine. She is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Sanaa Bdiiwi, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Bdiiwi received her medical degree from the University of Tishreen in Syria. She came to the United States and completed her residency at Coney Island Hospital. After working for many years at Coney Island Hospital, Dr. Bdiiwi came to Rutgers New Jersey Medical School to work as an academic hospitalist. In addition to her busy inpatient clinical service, Dr. Bdiiwi works frequently with the residents, helping educate and guide them during their medical consult and admission rotation as third-year residents.
Michael Bebawy, DO
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Bebawy completed his Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Business at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He earned his medical degree from Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he now serves as an academic hospitalist.
Jacquelyn Bradley, DO
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Bradley attended Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at New York Medical College- Westchester Medical Center. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and a member of the American Osteopathic Medicine and American College of Physicians. Since 2017, Dr. Bradley has been an academic hospitalist at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Her primary interest within medicine are providing high- quality evidence- based clinical care and enjoys teaching residents and medical students.
Arslan Cheema, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Cheema received his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical University in Pakistan. He practiced as an Emergency Medicine physician for four years and later served as a medical educator for two years. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in New Jersey, before joining Rutgers University Hospital as an Attending Physician in the Division of Hospital Medicine. He is dedicated to providing high-quality patient care and actively engaged in mentoring residents.
Krishan Hirun de Silva, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Krishan Hirun De Silva, MD, is a dedicated and compassionate physician specializing in Internal Medicine. He earned his medical degree from St. George’s University and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Dr. De Silva serves as a hospitalist at Rutgers, where he is committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care. Passionate about medical education, he takes pride in mentoring medical residents and students, fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Nehal Dhaduk, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Dhaduk received her bachelor's degree in finance at NYU Stern School of Business. She then went on to complete medical school at Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School and finished her internal medicine residency training at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan. She now works as an academic hospitalist at Rutgers prioritizing both resident teaching and clinical research.
Enoc Fernandez, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Fernandez received his medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine and completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Rutgers- NJMS. After graduation, he stayed on to join the faculty as part of the Division of General Internal Medicine where he focuses on delivering high-quality patient-centered care in the inpatient setting. He has continued in his role as clinician-educator and the residents enjoy having him on floors as an attending. Additionally, he serves as a preceptor for medicine consults and admissions when residents rotate with him during their third year.
Allison Izsak, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Izsak received her bachelors degree in Biology at Cornell University. She went on to work as a clinical research associate at NYU Langone before attending medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Columbia University New York Presbyterian Hospital. After residency Dr. Izsak joined the Academic Hospitalist staff at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and looks forward to working with residents and taking on a role in medical student education.
Maninderpal Kaur, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Kaur is a Clinical Instructor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She received her bachelor's degree in Economics from New York University, and her medical degree from St. George University. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Rogers Williams Medical Center in Rhode Island. Dr. Kaur is currently a hospitalist within the Division of General Internal Medicine.
Megna Khatri, MD
Internal Medicine-Pediatrics
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Khatri received her medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where she also completed her combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency. She is working as an Internal Medicine and Pediatric Hospitalist. She also actively participates in medical student education as a Learning Community Advisor for history and physical diagnosis training, as well as inpatient precepting of students and residents.
Karishma Khetani, MD

Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Karishma Khetani received her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Now a faculty member at Rutgers NJMS, she serves as a Med-Peds Hospitalist, dedicated to providing high-quality inpatient care to the diverse community of Newark. In her free time, Dr. Khetani enjoys trying new cuisines, traveling, and practicing yoga.
Karina Lochan, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Karina Lochan obtained her medical degree in 2016 from St. George’s University, School of Medicine, Grenada. She has trained in the public health systems in the Caribbean and the UK from 2014-2016, and has tutored and lead lecture-based sessions in multiple Basic Science subjects at St George’s University 2017-2019. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency in Brooklyn, NY in 2022.
Ian Miller, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Miller received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and went on to complete his internal medicine residency at George Washington University. He joined Rutgers NJMS as a hospitalist after working for Kaiser Permanente in the DC metropolitan area as a hospitalist. He is a member of the American College of Physicians as well as the Society of Hospital Medicine. His professional interests include: medical education, point-of-care ultrasound applications in hospital medicine, and patient advocacy. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, running, and reading.
Mary Morgan, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Morgan received her medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. She completed an Internal Medicine residency followed by a Chief residency year at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She is working as a Hospitalist and remains actively involved with the residency program.
Javeria Riaz, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Javeria Riaz is an Assistant Professor of Medicine who joined the Division of Hospital Medicine as a Hospitalist. She earned her medical degree from Ziauddin Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan and completed her residency at Morristown Medical Center. She is a member of the Center to Advance Palliative Care.
Claire Ruane, MD
Internal Medicine-Pediatrics
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Ruane earned her medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where she also completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She currently serves as a hospitalist, caring for both adult and pediatric patients. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ruane is actively involved in medical education, providing instruction to medical students and supervising students and residents in the inpatient setting.
Aftab Vadsaria, MD

Dr. Vadsaria is a board-certified Internal medicine physician, Assistant Professor of Medicine who joined the Division of Hospital Medicine as a Hospitalist. He earned his medical degree from SKN Medical College, Pune, India, before completing his residency at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn. He is a dedicated member of the American College of Physicians and the American Board of Internal Medicine, committed to providing high-quality care, resident education and advancing the field of Internal Medicine.
