Advanced Stem Cell Seminar -- MSBS520A

Welcome to the Advanced Stem Cell Seminar web site.

This course is interactive. The goal is to provide students with the current concepts of all types of stem cells. The students are assigned current publications to ensure that group discussions provide the entire class with the progress of stem cells in current and future treatments.

Students who are enrolled in MSBS5120 (monday's class) are encourage to enroll for the advance class. In the absence of another stem cell course, students can enroll if he or she has taken one of the core courses, or a background in biology. A general background in biology or biochemistry will allow you to enroll in the course.

Advance Stem Cell Seminar (MSBS520AQ)

Course Structure:

I. Students will be assigned research articles. At discussion, he/she will submit a written summary of the article in lay and scientific format (~1/2-1 page each). The students will be instructed on the required format. Students must summarize the article without plagerizing with a graphical abstract. Summaries may be selected for public access within the stem cell website.
II. Each student will be required to read the articles. However, students assigned to the paper will lead the discussion.  
III. In cases when there are guest lecturers, the students will provide a 1-page summary of the lecture.  
IV. Complex topics discussed on Monday's stem cell class may be discussed in the advance class.
