Curriculum
4-year Combined Internal Medicine- Public Health/General Preventive Medicine Residency
- 30 months of Internal Medicine (IM) + 18 months of General Preventive Medicine and Public Health (PM)
- 6+2 schedule during the first 3.5 years of training
- PGY-1: 2 months of PM
- PGY-2/3: 5- 6 months of PM
- PGY4: 4-6 months of PM
- IM rotations similar to categorical residents
- PM rotations include Dept of Health, Maternal Health rotations at UH and VA, VA Health Promotion/Disease Prevention (HPDP), War Related Illness and Injury Study Center, QI rotations at all sites
- Longitudinal research projects and mentorship through dedicated IM/PM faculty
- Public Health and Preventive Medicine seminars during PM, ambulatory blocks and elective rotations
- Longitudinal collaboration with community based organizations
- > 15 credits graduate coursework in 5 core content areas are required for Preventive Medicine Boards
- Graduates are eligible for Board certification by both ABIM and ABPM
