APTR-AHRQ Residency Rotation Highlight
Karen Li: Rutgers New Jersey Medical School
I had the opportunity to learn more about the methodology and processes the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) uses to develop evidence-based guidelines. In addition to reviewing Task Force recommendations and attending the Task Force meeting, I learned more about the potential benefits and harms of clinical preventive services, participated in resident journal club, performed fact checks, and worked on a “Putting Prevention into Practice” case study. During my rotation, I enjoyed resident rounds with medical officers the most and through this experience, I anticipate working in the education and/or clinical practice areas of public health. This rotation at AHRQ has impacted my career path and goals in a positive way by experiencing direct public health involvement and evaluating evidence-based guidance.
