Minimally Invasive Surgery

Minimally Invasive Surgery and Laparoscopy allows a surgeon to perform complex operations within the human body through multiple small incisions less than an inch long and utilizing advanced camera and instrument technology. Patients who undergo minimally invasive operations often recover faster, spend less time in the hospital, have less postoperative pain, and return to work earlier than patients who undergo traditional “open” surgery, while achieving the same or greater level of effectiveness. Minimally invasive techniques can also be employed through robotic surgery, which utilizes a technologically advanced, surgeon-controlled robot (the da Vinci®system) to perform complex operations through small incisions. Our surgeons have the latest in Robotic technology available to them. In fact, a majority of the common and complex operations in the abdomen and chest are now carried out using minimally invasive technology and/or robotics.

The surgeons and staff of the Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery at New Jersey Medical School are committed to advancing this field through comprehensive clinical excellence, surgical education, and translational research. Our Minimally Invasive Surgery and Robotics team is dedicated to providing you with the highest quality treatment using the most advanced surgical techniques available in medicine today.
