Writing Support

Updated September 2022
Students on the SGS Newark Health Science Campus have access to multiple programs to help them enhance their writing skills.

Thesis writing course

Students can enroll in a 0-credit thesis writing course. Barring one or two workshops, students enrolled in the course meet with the faculty member one-on-one on a customized schedule. To register for the course students should contact Dr. Doreen Badheka at doreen.badheka@rutgers.edu prior to the start of the semester.

In a feedback survey, here is what students from our program said about the course:

"The course helped me realized the different weaknesses I had a habit of making. It also allowed me to convey my arguments with fluidity and write effectively ."

"This class was very helpful in showing me how to focus both the beginning and ending sections of the thesis by reorganizing the content and changing the emphasis on particular features of the research. The resulting paper was more direct, concisely expressed, and shorter in length."
