Safe Zone Training

“Safe Zone LGBTQ Allies Training” is a cultural competency training program designed to increase the community’s understanding of (and capacity to address) issues faced by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer or Questioning (LGBTQ) persons on campus. It is designed to improve the institutional climate for student learning and personal and professional development. Effective implementation of Safe Zone programs requires the identification, training and “visibility” of institutional persons (including role models, allies, mentors, and champions) advocating for the LGBTQ community. The Safe Zone LGBTQ Allies Training is open to trainees, faculty, and staff of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences at Newark to help them gain the knowledge and skills necessary to foster an affirming environment and effectively serve as an “Ally”. An LGBTQ Ally is a person who works to end oppression through support of or as an advocate for the LGBTQ population.  For further information please contact J.P.
