The human immune system has evolved to face the challenge of pathogens and environmental insults while simultaneously supporting a healthy community of microbes. The host-microbe interplay impacts every facet of health and disease. Recent technological breakthroughs have facilitated new paradigms of host-microbe interactions and immune development that underlie infection, autoimmunity, inflammatory disease, and cancer. This area of research shows tremendous untapped potential for promoting health and developing new therapeutic strategies to treat chronic disease. The goal of this symposium is to bring together internationally-renowned leaders with diverse perspectives to share recent discoveries in this field, with the goal of supporting collaborative efforts to promote health and treat disease.
