DallaPiazzaMichelle DallaPiazza MD
Dr. DallaPiazza is board-certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. She has a deep commitment to exploring health disparities and enhancing quality in her clinical and research work. In 2017, Dr. DallaPiazza led efforts to create a gender-affirming transgender health program in the Infectious Diseases Practice. With a multidisciplinary team of professionals, the program offers gender-affirming hormone treatments, mental health support, case management, HIV treatment and prevention, and primary care for transgender and gender non-binary individuals. The program focuses on achieving wellness and gender affirmation goals through primary medical care.

FinkelDiana Finkel DO
As a community provider and clinical educator in the Greater Newark area for almost two decades, Dr. Finkel has been privileged to provide care for diverse populations. Through partnerships with other community providers and organizations, she is deeply committed to ensuring access to start-of-the art, highest quality medical care for all individuals. As part of this ongoing effort, she provides gender-affirming hormone therapy integrated into practice along with HIV care and prevention and general primary care. The practice is an inclusive, warm, environment focusing on the whole person, that looks forward to welcoming you and sharing your journey to health and well-being.

Pediatrics

BentsianovSari Bentsianov MD
Dr. Bentsianov is a board certified Adolescent Medicine specialist.  She provides developmentally appropriate care for all teens and young adults with experience working with transgender identified individuals.  She provides puberty blocking and gender affirming hormone treatment as well as other important aspects of care vital to healthy growth and development such as routine physicals, brief counseling, and reproductive health care.  She is passionate about her work, recognizing the importance of these needed services in New Jersey.

KhokharAditi Khokhar MD
Dr. Khokhar, along with Dr. Bentsianov, founded the multidisciplinary pediatric transgender program at University Hospital in Newark, which is one of the very few centers for children and adolescents in the state of New Jersey. She prescribes puberty blockers to young individuals who identify on the transgender spectrum followed later by hormone replacement therapy. She strives to provide complete medical, psychological, and social support in a supportive environment.

PSYCHIATRIC CARE

Petros Levounis, MD, Chair, Department of Psychiatry 
Dr. Levounis, Professor and Chair, Department of Psychiatry, will assist patients with psychiatric resources. Along with colleagues, Dr. Levounis will provide psychiatric evaluation and support for gender dysphoria. Faculty experts will also assist with insurance clearance evaluation for gender confirmation surgery.

Plastic Surgery

Lee Edward Lee, MD, Division Chief
Dr. Lee is board certified and fellowship trained in microsurgery and gender confirmation. Dr. Lee provides a full range of surgical procedures for female to male and male to female including:

Top Surgery
-Breast Augmentation
-Breast Reconstruction
-Chest Masculinization (reduction and mastectomy), 

Additionally, Dr. Lee performs facial surgery for gender confirmation including facial feminization, body contouring, and tracheal shave (may not be covered by insurance).

Urology

Amjad Alwaal, MD, assistant professor
Dr. Alwaal is part of the team that performs genital reassignment surgery. He also performs urethral lengthening procedures and manages potential complications of stricture or fistula. Dr. Alwaal also performs testicular implants and penile implants for female to male transitions.

Otolaryngology

Rachel Kaye, MD, assistant professor
Working within the Department of Otolaryngology, Dr. Kaye offers endolaryngeal pitch adjustment surgery for gender confirming voice change.


TRANSGENDER PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Najeebah Walden
Najeebah is the first point of contact for introduction to the services and resources available through the Rutgers Center for Transgender Health. Najeebah provides a wealth of information to help patients coordinate their visit with Center experts. She also handles insurance authorization for patients.
