Welcome to the Winter SMART Program!

Thank you for your interest in our program.
Please read the instructions carefully before you begin.

How to Apply:

• All applications must be filled out online using this form.
• Do not mail or drop off your application in person.
• Once you start or submit your application, you cannot go back to change it.
• Please set aside 30-40 minutes to complete this application and an additional 60 minutes for your essay. Write your essay in a Word or Google doc before pasting it into the application. 
• You must answer all questions with a "*". If you skip a required question or see a warning, the submit button will not show or work.

Before You Begin, Make Sure You Have:

• Written answers to the open-ended questions at the end of the application
• The email address of your guidance counselor or science teacher (for a recommendation)
•  Your parent or guardian's personal information, including their home address, phone number, and email address
• If in grades 9-11, your GPA (on a 4.0 scale). You can obtain this information from your guidance counselor or through PowerSchool.
  
  Important Dates:
• The SMART application form will close for students at 11:59 PM (EST) on Friday, December 19, 2025.
• The Teacher Recommendation form will close for teachers at 11:59 PM (EST) on Monday, January 5, 2026.
• You will receive an email with your program decision during the week of January 12, 2026. 
• If you are accepted, Parent Consent and Student Assent forms are due January 16, 2026
• Winter SMART Program begins January 24, 2026

Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Please review your work carefully before submitting.
