This page contains step-by-step instructions to apply to Masters Program at the Newark Health Science Campus of the School of Graduate Studies, Rutgers University. We have extended the application deadline from June 30 to July 15, 2020. In addition, effective May 05, 2020, applicants can apply the code SGSBS for an application fee waiver. This code can be selected in the online application under the financial aid section. This short video will demonstrate how to select for the programs at SGS-Newark and how to access the application fee waiver in the application portal.
You will leave this website and will be directed to the Rutgers University-wide Graduate and Professional Application Portal. If this is your first time accessing the portal, you will be required to create an account. To create an account you simply need to generate a log-in ID and PIN. Remember to save this information for continued access to the Application Portal. You can save an incomplete application at any time and finish at a later time.
After logging in you will find the online application has 9 sections. You can preview the questions on the application here. The 9 sections are designed for you to fill out personal information, residency information, select your program, provide information about past institutions, upload your test scores, upload information for financial aid, submit your personal statement and provide recommender information.
Filling out section 3 of the online application: Program
There are 200+ graduate programs on the Rutgers University-wide Graduate and Professional Application Portal. To fill out Program information follow the following steps
1. As shown below, you will find the Program Name tab (green arrow) with a drop down menu (blue arrow)
2. Click on the drop-down menu to open a pop-up window, select Biomedical Sciences
3. Selecting Biomedical Sciences will display ALL the programs offered in Biomedical Sciences. Select the degree you are applying to (MS or MBS) by clicking on the term when you plan to start the program. Double check to confirm you are applyin to the Newark campus (blue arrow).
4. After you select the term, the pop-up windows close and you will be back in the main application portal. Program information will be auto-filled in your application as shown below.
After selecting your program fill out the other sections by providing information about past institutions, upload your test scores, upload information for financial aid, submit your personal statement and provide recommender information. You can save an incomplete application at any time and finish at a later time.
Under the section, Checklist there will be an option to upload supporting materials. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, postal mail and courier service delivery to our central admissions office has been curtailed, please upload all of your application supporting documents for the Fall 2020 semester through the Grad Portal. This can include unofficial transcripts and test scores, which are sufficient for review of applications and admissions decisions (original documents will be required prior to matriculation). In addition, please have your recommenders upload your recommendation letters. Direct upload of application materials will ensure the quickest review and response, since admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis.
