Our diverse and complex patient population has allowed us to perform important clinical research, both locally and as part of multi-center trials. We have participated in landmark trials such as the ALMS trial and Aurora trial and others in treatment of lupus nephritis, the Figaro and Fidelio trials in treatment of diabetic nephropathy, the FSGS-CT trial (of FSGS), as well as trials in hypertension, hyponatremia, and vaccination.
Current projects include ongoing trials in lupus nephritis and in non-diabetic proteinuric kidney disease, and pending projects include trials of treatment of acute kidney injury in cirrhosis.
In addition to these research activities, we participate in quality improvement projects in our institution, including a project to improve hypertension management in our primary medicine clinics.
