Spine Neurosurgery
The Department of Neurological Surgery delivers advanced surgical and conservative care for the gamut of spinal pathologies. We maintain a close collaborative relationship with the Departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurology, and Anesthesia/ Pain Management as well as with our specialists in Neuroradiology, Neuropsychology, and intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring. Led by our experts, Drs. Ira Goldstein and John Gillick for adult deformity, revision, complex trauma, and vertebral tumor surgery, Dr. Margaret Pain for pediatric spine surgery, Drs. Amit Singla, James Liu, and Hai Sun for spinal vascular conditions, and Drs. Amit Singla, Stephen Johnson and Hai Sun for adult degenerative spinal pathology, we are able to provide a multidisciplinary approach to managing complex spine disease that is only available at a large academic medical practice. Our spine surgery experts direct programs for the management of spinal deformity, tumors of the spinal column as well as spinal cord and nerve roots, degenerative disease, rheumatologic spinal disorders, spinal trauma, spinal cord injury, minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal vascular lesions, and the treatment of congenital spinal malformations. We are happy to manage complex cases, including revision spine surgery, Workman's Comp cases, unhealed fractures, pseudoarthrosis, osteomyelitis, and unstable injuries. We also offer solutions such as neuromodulation for the treatment of chronic pain or spasticity for those circumstances which do not lend themselves to traditional spinal decompression or stabilization.
