Musculoskeletal Oncology involves care for patients with benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors. This includes patients from newborns to the elderly. This also includes patients with metastatic disease to bone that has spread from another form of primary cancer. Musculoskeletal oncology care involves a multidisciplinary team approach, as patients with these conditions may also require chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and pathology review for an accurate diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, patients with these conditions often benefit from the involvement of other surgical specialties, including plastic surgery and general surgery, to ensure the highest level of care possible. By collaborating with other experts within the Rutgers system, the MSO division provides patients with access to the most modern treatments and clinical trials available. |
