Ashley Ignatiuk, MD
Assistant Professor, MSC, FRCSCs

Originally, from Canada, Dr. Ignatiuk completed 2 years of Orthopaedic Surgery residency training in London, Ontario, and 4 years of Plastic Surgery residency training in Ottawa, Ontario before completing a hand and microvascular surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas and a fellowship in Pediatric Hand Surgery at Texas Scottish Rites in Dallas, Texas.

After practicing at the University of Colorado, Denver for almost 3 years, I joined the Division of Plastic Surgery as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery.  Dr. Ignatiuk has a special interest in brachial plexus and peripheral nerve surgery including targeted muscle re-innervation and the use of regenerative peripheral nerve interphases to allow patients to utilize sophisticated bio-prosthetics and decrease phantom limb and neuroma pain. I am also interested in limb salvage surgery with microvascular techniques including flaps and replantation.

He is a strong advocate of wide-awake hand surgery, which can provide improved patient outcomes with decreased cost and improved patient satisfaction.  This includes trigger fingers, carpal tunnel release, tendon repairs, tenolysis, and even tendon transfers.  Another area of interest is vascular conditions of the hand including hypothenar hammer syndrome and Raynaud’s syndrome.

Dr. Ignatiuk is excited to be a part of the Rutgers Hand Surgery fellowship and truly believes that a combined plastic surgery and orthopedic surgery fellowship is the best way to teach the hand surgeons of the future.
