Mentoring Program
Mentoring is an important part of resident education in the pathology residency program. The program was developed to promote career development and professional growth amongst all of our residents. Residents in our program are encouraged to select their own mentor and use that mentor as a resource to aid them in their career progression.
The goals of the mentoring program are to provide access to mentoring to residents who might not otherwise seek it themselves as well as to provide guidance from faculty who have been there.
Faculty members are given the opportunity to share their perspective with a junior colleague in the hopes that the junior physician will benefit from their knowledge. The mentors will hopefully also improve their mentoring and supervisory skills. Mentees will obtain guidance from their faculty mentors who are interested in their success and are willing to motivate them. Mentors are expected to be honest with their mentees and provide appropriate support and guidance for them.
