NJMS Welcomes New Chair of Pediatrics!

Please Join us in congratulating Dr. Glenn Fennelly, NJMS alumnus (Class of 1987), as the newly appointed Chair for the Department of Pediatrics!

Dr. Fennelly has completed an undergraduate degree in Biology & English at Dartmouth College.  He then came to NJMS to pursue his MD degree.  He was trained in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.  He also earned his MPH degree at Harvard University in 2005.

Dr. Fennelly has held a faculty appointment at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine since 1995.  In 1998, he was named Chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease at Jacobi Medical Center.

At Einstein, Jacobi, and Montefiore, Dr. Fennelly has been involved in the teaching of medical students and training of residents, and has mentored several post-doctoral fellows.  Internationally, he has volunteered and consulted with various global NGOs supporting infection prevention and treatment programs in developing countries.

Dr. Fennelly’s research, to develop novel vaccines, that includes testing a combination HIV-TB vaccine for newborns, has been funded by the NIH and other granting agencies throughout his career.  He is the author or co-author of several articles in peer-reviewed journals, textbooks and abstracts.  He has served on several NIH study sections and is a recognized leader in the field of Pediatric Infectious Disease.
