This course is designed for Ph.D. students in the I3 track. All first year students will present one paper, as indicated on the course schedule.
Guidelines for presentation: each student will be responsible for presenting to the class:
1.Background the “big picture,” what was known, the rationale for this paper, and the questions being asked by the authors. Especially important is the hypothesis, even if not clearly stated in the paper.
2. The meaning of tables / graphs etc, (Special emphasis on controls).
3. Methods used: this should include an indication of what the method can and cannot detect
