AAV Vector Service
The adeno-associated virus (AAV) core facility, operating on a fee-for-service basis, is primarily a resource for CBMM investigators and investigators within the Rutgers community. The AAV Core provides custom AAV production in 1, 2, 8, and 9 serotypes for applications for basic and pre-clinical studies. If you need other serotypes, please inquire.
Our production method utilizes a triple transfection protocol in HEK293 cells and is purified by Iodixanol gradient purification. The final purified virus particles are serum-free and antibiotic-free, with few empty particles, so that the purified virus particles are suitable for in vivo injection studies.
For a standard preparation, we guarantee a titer of 1 x 1011, although average yield is usually 1 x 1012 virus particles. Approximate turnaround time is 3-4 weeks.
The cost of rAAV production
Cost for the transfection, AAV production and purification of rAAV ready for animal injection studies, ~500
µl (~1x109 virus particles/
µl)
Members within the CBMM department: $1,500
NJMS, Rutgers members: $3,000
Additional services
Vector cloning: $1,500
Large Scale plasmid preparation $250
Please inquire Dr. Gopal J. Babu (babugo@njms.rutgers.edu) for pricing for other services including higher viral titer, crude AAV preparation or AAV purification alone.
The order form and purified plasmid construct (~300
µg for a standard preparation) should be downloaded, filled out, and submitted to:
