Frequently Asked Questions Concerning Residency Positions:

1) Do you currently have any open positions?
Ans.: We currently have no vacant resident positions. We are currently recruiting for candidates who will start within our program as PGY-2s on July 1, 2025.

2) How do I apply to your program?
Ans.: If you are applying for a regular PGY-2 slot through the "Match" starting on July 1, 2025, you must apply through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application System) (202) 828-0413. ERAS may also be accessed through https://www.aamc.org/students/medstudents/eras/

3) What is the minimum USMLE score you require?
Ans.: We do not have a set minimum score requirement. However, you must have achieved a passing score (preferably on the first attempt) on all exams taken. You must also present your complete USMLE/COMLEX transcript, not just individual scores.

4) What is your policy towards International Medical Graduates?
Ans.: We accept International Medical Graduates (IMGs) into our program, based on competitiveness of their application. For IMGs seeking assistance, contact the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) at:

This residency program does not sponsor applicants for visas. We accept J-1 visas only which can be sponsored by the ECFMG (with appropriate stipulations). You must have completed at least one year of medical training in the United States before starting at the PGY-2 level of training in this program. U.S. rotations during your training are strongly recommended but not required.

5) Do you offer PGY-1 positions?
Ans.: No. It is the applicant's responsibility to apply separately for a preliminary or transitional PGY-1 position. This is usually done at the same time that you are applying for the PGY-2 position.

6) What information do you need with the ERAS application?
Ans.: Three letters of recommendation
Current C.V. clearly explaining any time gaps
Dean's letter
Medical school transcript
USMLE/COMLEX transcript
Unexpired ECFMG certificate (as applicable)
J-1 visa (as applicable)

7) What is the deadline for ERAS applications?
Ans.: November 30th (this year). Applications that are received after November 30th will not be reviewed. However, supporting documents such as transcripts or letters of recommendation will be accepted after November 30th.

1) What is your application deadline?
Ans.: The application deadline is November 1st of each year. 

2) What Fellowship programs do you currently offer?
Ans.:

· Traumatic Brain Injury (ACGME accredited)
· Cancer Rehabilitation Fellowship (non-ACGME accredited) 

3) ) How can I obtain an application?
Ans. For the Spinal Cord Injury Medicine please click on the link to obtain the SCI Fellowship application. Additional information about the SCI program will be emailed to you. 
For the Cancer Rehabilitation Fellowship, please e-mail us your name and address, and we will email the application materials with additional information to you.
For the Brain Injury Medicine and Pediatric Rehabilitation Fellowship programs, please apply through ERAS.

From Garden State Parkway (North and South):

  • Get off at Exit 145, and follow signs for 280 West - The Oranges.
  • Remain on 280 West until Exit 7, Pleasant Valley Way.
  • As you get off the exit ramp, turn left at the light onto Pleasant Valley Way.
  • Pass through two traffic lights.
  • Kessler Institute is located 1/4 mile on the right, and is marked with a brown sign.
  • Follow signs up hill to outpatient entrance on the right (red brick building outpatient entrance).

From the Lincoln Tunnel:

  • Follow signs for NJ Turnpike South.
  • Remain on Turnpike until Exit 15W.
  • Go through Toll and follow signs onto 280 West.
  • Remain on 280 West until Exit 7.
  • Proceed as above.

From the George Washington Bridge:

  • Get on 80 West, and follow signs for Garden State Parkway South.
  • Remain on the Parkway until Exit 145.
  • Get off at Exit 145, and follow signs for 280 West - The Oranges.
  • Proceed as above.

From Route 80 East:

  • Remain on Route 80 East until Exit 47A -280 East-The Oranges.
  • Take 280 East to Exit 7.
  • Proceed as above.
