Soft Tissue Cancer
Soft Tissue Cancer
Sarcomas are tumors of the connective tissue. Many patients with a sarcoma of the soft tissue or bone undergo radiation therapy either before or after surgical removal of the tumor. The radiation therapy is important to kill any remaining tumor cells in the part of the body that the tumor was removed from. External beam radiation therapy is typically delivered over 5-7 weeks, though in some cases a brachytherapy radiation implant may be used instead. We work closely with the orthopedic oncology team at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School to coordinate your care.
