Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship Program
Training Sites




Fellows rotate between the four major teaching hospital centers of Rutgers Health Graduate Medical Education: University Hospital in Newark, the Veterans Affairs--New Jersey Health Care System in East Orange, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, and Jersey City Medical Center in Jersey City. The training emphasis at each of these hospitals is dictated by the individual programs' major teaching strengths. All participant hospitals are in Northern New Jersey.


UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, NEWARK, NJ

Fellows complete rotations and clinical experiences in the following areas: Cardiac Care Unit, Coronary Catheterization Lab, Structural Heart Program, Advanced Cardiac Mechanical Support, Telemetry Unit, Echocardiography Lab, Research, Nuclear Cardiology, Imaging, Electrophysiology and Inpatient Hospital Consult, and a 2 week night float rotation that is combined with 2 week research time that incorporates exposure to specialty clinics : Pulmonary hypertension, Pre and post liver transplant, advanced heart failure and structural heart disease clinics. University Hospital is also the primary site for the continuity clinic.


COOPERMAN BARNABAS MEDICAL CENTER, LIVINGSTON, NJ

Fellows complete rotations in the following areas: Cardiac Care Unit, Coronary Catheterization Lab and the Structural Heart Program, Echocardiography, Electrophysiology Lab, and dedicated research time that also incorporates Lipid Clinic, Cardiothoracic and a vascular medicine experience.


VETERANS AFFAIRS-NEW JERSEY HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, EAST ORANGE, NJ

Fellows complete rotations in the following areas: Research, Echocardiography Lab, ETT- Nuclear Stress Testing, Preventive Cardiology, Consultation, and hospital service.

 

JERSEY CITY MEDICAL CENTER, JERSEY CITY, NJ

Fellows complete rotations in the following areas: Coronary Catheterization Lab and Structural Heart Program, Electrophysiology and the Echocardiography laboratory. There is also a continuity clinic.
