Living in New Jersey
Whether you enjoy the energy of the city, the charm of the suburbs, or the quiet of the countryside, New Jersey offers an
exceptional variety of places to live, work, and explore. Our location provides residents with access to a diverse range of
communities and housing options, from apartments and townhomes to private homes. Many house staff choose to live off-campus
in surrounding communities, with convenient access to Newark and the medical center as well as nearby cities such as Jersey City
and Hoboken.
There is always something to see and do close to campus. Branch Brook Park, famous for its spectacular annual Cherry Blossom
display, provides a beautiful setting for walking, running, and enjoying the outdoors. The Newark Museum of Art offers an
impressive collection of art and cultural exhibits, while the Prudential Center hosts professional sporting events, concerts, and
entertainment throughout the year. The New Jersey Performing Arts Center brings nationally and internationally acclaimed
performers to the area. Just minutes away, Newark’s historic Ironbound District is known for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse
restaurants, with an especially strong selection of Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilian, and American cuisine.
Beyond Newark, residents can easily explore everything New Jersey has to offer. The
Jersey Shore provides miles of beaches, boardwalks, and coastal communities, while the
northern and western parts of the state offer opportunities for hiking, camping, skiing, and
rafting. With New York City and Philadelphia also within easy reach, residents can enjoy
the best of urban life, outdoor recreation, culture, and coastal living—all while making
New Jersey their home.
